The Chao Garden is a mini-game in the Sonic Adventure series, where the player can raise virtual pets called "Chao" and evolve them into forms based on their stats. The Chao can participate in races, and karate matches, and many fans strive to raise rare chao with perfect stats.
For me, the Chao Garden was the main reason I even wanted a copy of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle as a child, the game is really fun overall, but the Chao Garden is surprisingly in-depth, and there are thousands of possible combinations. Even now, the Chao Garden aspect of Sonic Adventure 2 is supported by modders online, keeping the mini-game alive with new features and quality-of-life updates.

Because of the popularity of Chao, there are all sorts of tools and mods available for Sonic Adventure 2, here's some good ones that I use most:
- Chao Island: This website has been around for who knows how long, I remember using it around 2007 so it's at least that old. Great resource for beginners and experts alike, loads of information about how Chao breeding works, and lots of images of all the different types of Chao.
- 3D Chao Viewer: Available in browser through Chao Island, but I think you can download it as a separate program as well. This 3D viewer lets you change a Chao's model in realtime to get an idea of what your Chao would look like with certain stats and colour combinations.
- Krzys2's Chao Editor: An invaluable tool if you are kinda impatient (like me), this tool lets you edit your Chao while you are playing, it's also really useful for playing Chao animations at will, and it works with other mods as well such as accessory mods. This tool can also be used as part of the process to move your Chao from GameCube memory cards to your PC version of Sonic Adventure 2!
- Chao World Extended Mod: This mod is basically essential for PC players of Sonic Adventure 2, it adds tonnes of quality-of-life fixes and many new features.
